As an intermediate player, you will already have begun to establish a tone characteristic that is special and individual to your own sense of musical taste. This can lead to an exciting new chapter in your development and the expansion of tonal characteristics in your playing.
We offer all our intermediate customers the chance to try a number of instruments on our premises – modern and older ones, flat and high carved models. This lets you explore the behaviour of the various models and the effect of different designs. Adjustments will be made on the spot to the set up of each instrument, to allow for your individual taste in openness of tone, style and technical approach. For example, the instrument’s reaction to your vibrato and its resonance in double stopping can also be adjusted and settled on the spot.
Our older restored instruments usually offer a greater scope of complex and interesting colourings of resonance, and all our restoration work on these older instruments is fully guaranteed, and repairs are expected to be good for very many years.
Once you have selected your instrument, a suitable bow should be chosen to complement both your instrument and your personal technique. It is a delicate procedure. The timber of the bow must react with the resonance of the instrument. We will assist you with the subtle differences in tone and operation with a variety of bows to help you identify your preference.
Finally, as your playing technique and musical inspiration develop over the years, your instrument can be adjusted to develop with you. The better your chosen instrument, the more scope there is for it to be developed to serve you over the years.
And of course, after 2-3 months, we offer a free check-up.
